Guardian Bank Limited {Guardian} was founded by the Chandaria family, one of the leading business houses of Kenya having business commitments in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, UK and India. Dr. M. M. Chandaria {popularly known as “MM”} is the founder and the Chairman of the group companies, including Guardian Bank Limited.
Guardian was incorporated in Kenya during January 1992, initially as a Finance Company and then converted into a Commercial Bank during August 1996.
The members of the Board of the Bank are businessmen and professionals from various fields who work closely with The Senior Management Team to grow the bank’s business thorough a dedicated workforce.
Guardian Bank has nine (9) branches, four in Nairobi – i.e. Biashara Street, Westlands, Mombasa Road and Ngong Road; two branches in Mombasa – Mombasa Town and Nyali then one each in Eldoret, Kisumu and Nakuru. Our Westlands branch extend seven days banking service and all our branches are networked to offer “Anywhere Banking” facility to customers. We have embraced technology in a big way in order to meet the growing demand from customers by offering Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and ATM/Debit cards. In addition, we are now able to offer iTax Services which facilitates remittance of Taxes hassle free.
The Bank has correspondent relationships with Habib Bank (New York & London), Deutsche Bank (Frankfurt & London), DCB Bank Ltd (India), ICICI Bank (India), Standard Bank of South Africa (South Africa), Kenya Commercial Bank (Kenya) and Bank of India (Kenya) which enable the Bank to offer full-fledged trade finance and foreign exchange services.
Financial Position
The Total Deposits of the bank as at 31 December 2016 stood at Kshs.12.313 B while the Gross Advances were at Kshs. 9.636 B. The Bank posted a net profit of Kshs. 230 M at the end of the 4 quarter in 2016 against a net profit of Kshs. 229 M posted during the same period of 2015. The Core Capital of the bank stood at Kshs.2.149 B as at 30th December 2016.
